I personally don't like playing 8-key at all though, so that's not a huge loss for me. There aren't enough buttons on most Beatmania controllers to actually play 8-key modes, even if you want to do something stupid like map the effector inputs to the turntable (.and then what do you do when you need to hit both of them at the same time?).So you'll then need to map everything to keyboard keys and then assign keyboard controls in the game. The new Steam Input UI on the Steam Deck will let you bind a button to a analog stick direction (so you can map the back buttons to LS and RS inputs). The game will let you rebind the left and right effect buttons on a keyboard but not on a controller because Reasons. You'll need to remember the button mappings (or just screenshot them), and there's certain bindings that are required and Steam doesn't tell you until you try to save the settings. Steam Input can solve this issue, but you then need to come up with a controller mapping for the controller and as music game controllers don't map to a standard controller at all the process is a bit convoluted. The controller only shows up as a DirectInput device, and DJ Max only takes XInput controllers.Click to shrink.I have it set up to play with a DJDao FPS, but there's some wonkiness involved, for a couple of reasons:
